Biomaterials are engineering products that widely used in many medical fields such as orthopaedic applications, facial and maxillofacial surgery, artificial heart parts, metal parts implantable devices. These materials medicine because they compatible with the organism, not allergic, resistant to physical chemical factors. Hydroxyapatites bioactive calcium phosphate ceramics tissues. To increase their bioactivity, nano-sized hydroxyapatite has been produced. Although there advantages use of nanoparticles field, potentially toxic effects these on environment human health concern. It is also one topics be investigated whether different forms same nanoparticle will cause differences genotoxicity. In this study, potential genotoxic rod round hydroxyapatites (nHAs) were evaluated Allium cepa Single Cell Gel Electrophoresis (COMET) method. According results, form nHA A. meristem root tip cells caused statistically significant genotoxicity at 25 ppm concentration terms tail density moment. This study showed small-sized-nanohydroxyapatite-induced cell death cepa. shown properties affect toxicity mechanisms.
